How do you use hypochlorous acid oral rinse?

For routine daily oral hygiene, brush and floss first to remove food debris and plaque. If you use a tongue scraper, use it before rinsing as well. Swish ½ oz to 1 oz (15–30 mL) of River Refresh Oral Rinse throughout the mouth for 30–60 seconds. Gargle to reach the back of the mouth and throat if desired, and spit. Do not swallow. The rinse can also be used in a compatible oral irrigator or water flosser.

Should You Brush and Floss Before Using HOCl Oral Rinse?

For best results, brush and floss first. Removing food debris and plaque helps clear the way for HOCl oral rinse to reach more oral surfaces and help reduce oral bacteria. If you use a tongue scraper, use it before rinsing as well.

You can still use the rinse without brushing or flossing first, such as after meals or during the day.

What Are the Ways to Use HOCl Oral Rinse?

River Refresh Oral Rinse can be used by swishing, gargling, or in a compatible oral irrigator or water flosser.

Swish: Measure ½ oz to 1 oz (15–30 mL), swish thoroughly throughout the mouth for 30–60 seconds, then spit out.
Gargle: Gargle as part of your rinse to reach the back of the mouth and throat, then spit out.
Water flosser: Add the rinse to a compatible oral irrigator and use as directed by the device manufacturer to deliver it around and between teeth and along the gumline. Fill the reservoir only for that session, then empty it after use. Do not store HOCl oral rinse in the reservoir.

Should You Use HOCl Oral Rinse After Dental Treatment?

HOCl oral rinse can help reduce oral bacteria as part of routine oral hygiene. After dental treatment or a dental procedure, however, your normal oral-care routine may temporarily change during healing. Ask your dentist whether the timing or frequency of rinsing should change during healing.
